The Watertown Fire Department was born in a cold winter week in February 1894. There were six major fires on just six consecutive nights. The first fire was in a large barn just south of Merritt Heminway's house on Main Street. Fires continued each evening thereafter until February 11th, when Citizen's Hall on Woodruff Avenue was destroyed. The time for action had arrived. The call went out to citizens interested in forming a volunteer fire department. Fifty enthusiastic residents soon responded.
Today we have approximately 95 active members who proudly and effectively serve our community.

And About Me.
I am a Firefighter, Medical Response Technician, and one of two EMS Lieutenants for WFD. I am also an Emergency Dispatcher for the Town of Watertown.
I started my "career" as a Junior Firefighter on another department at the age of 13. We did plenty of training, earning me my Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and EMT certificates. I served 13 years with them, and realized there was life outside of that sad town.
So, I moved to Watertown in 2002 and hit the ground running. I went from a department that ran about 80 calls a month, to Watertown who runs about 200 fire and EMS calls EVERY MONTH!! Needless to say it was a whole different experience.
So, if you want to give Firefighting a shot, stop in a HQ for an application. We'd love to have ya!!!
Thanks for Visiting, Clint.
